On 17 November 2021, Her Excellency Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, along with the Embassy staff visited the Roskilde Cathedral where the Thai Royal Family who visited this cathedral, namely His Majesty King Chulalongkorn (King Rama V), His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great (King Rama IX), and Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn had their heights marked at the Royal Column, according to the Cathedral’s tradition.

 

In this occasion, Her Excellency the Ambassador also met with the administrators of Roskilde Cathedral, including Ms. Anne Sophie Olander, the Head Priest, and Ms. Sara Peuron-Berg, Head of Event and Communication. The Danish side was informed about the growing interest in the Royal Column among the Thai public, which might lead to an increase in the number of Thai tourists visiting the Roskilde Cathedral in the coming years. Both sides also discussed about co-organizing an event to celebrate the occasion of the 125th Anniversary of King Chulalongkorn's visit to Denmark in 2022.
