Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark hosted a dinner for representatives from Danish authorities and Thai community to strengthen cooperation on consular matter

On 25 November 2024, H.E. Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, hosted a dinner for representatives from Danish authorities and the Thai community to strengthen cooperation on consular matters. The attendees included Mr. Søren Eriksen, Chairperson of Rak Thai Association, Ms. Wanida Samittiwiwat, Vice Chairperson of the Association, Ms. Lise-Lotte Duch, Leader of FAKTI, Mr. Abed Alrahman Elmoghrabis, Head of Office, and Ms. Trine Munch Jørgensen, Head of Section from the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI), Ms. Louise Rydgren, Return Coordinator from the Danish Return Agency, Ms. Butree Kulphibul Christiansen, Station Supervisor, from Thai Airways International PCL, and Mr. Yudan Chen, owner of Bangkok Restaurant. Mr. Teerakarn Savetsila, Consul of the Embassy, also joined the dinner.

The Ambassador shared with the participants that approximately 15,000 Thai nationals currently work and reside in Denmark, and most have successfully integrated themselves into the Danish society. She expressed appreciation to the services of the Danish authorities which have greatly contributed to their wellbeing and allowed them to live happily in Denmark. She hoped that cooperation between the Embassy and the Danish Authorities will continue to strengthen with an aim to empower the Thai community to make greater contribution to the Danish society to their fullest extent.

The Ambassador also stressed on collaboration to protect members of the Thai community from different professions, including au pairs. The Embassy planned to organize an orientation event for Thai au pairs to provide necessary information on rules and regulation of au pair scheme in Denmark, the approaches to protect their rights and benefits, and the channels to report to the concerned authorities in the case of any mistreatment by the host family. The Ambassador thanked the Danish Authority for expressing its readiness to work with the Embassy on the event which is scheduled to be held early next year.
