On 5 December 2015, the Royal Thai Honorary Consulate-General in Reykjavik, in cooperation with School of Thai Non-formal Education in Iceland and Wat Thai-Iceland temple, held a candle-lighting ceremony to commemorate the auspicious occasion of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulayadej’s 88 Birthday Anniversary at Alfholsskoli School in Kopavogur. The Thai Honorary Consul-General in Reykjavik, Ms. Anna Olafsdottir, welcomed the guests and cordially invited the Thai Ambassador to Denmark, H.E. Ms. Vimon Kidchob, to preside over the ceremony, where the Ambassador later held a speech to commemorate His Majesty the King and lighted the candle together with the Thai residents in Iceland and their families.

Although there has been a storm with heavy snowfalls causing many roads to be closed and transportation from one city to the next seems impossible, yet, many Thais and their friends and families have shown their determination to participate in this auspicious event as well as prepared a vast variety of Thai delicacies for the guests. A narration of His Majesty’s biography and the Royal Projects was also introduced as well as a variety of performances by the Thai community.
