The Band of the Royal Danish Life Guards performed the “Marsch Siamese” and the “Royal Guards March” the latter having been composed by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, during the ceremonial of the Changing of the Guard in front of the Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen on 2 December 2025, in commemoration of Thai National Day and His Majesty the Late King’s Birthday Anniversary on 5 December. Her Excellency Mrs. Suphanvasa Chotikajan Tang, Ambassador of Thailand to Denmark, along with Group Captain Putthapong Phalajivin, Air Attache of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Kingdom of Denmark, Mr. Jaya Patrachai, Counsellor, the Embassy’s staff and members of the Thai community attended this event.
On this occasion, Her Excellency the Ambassador was also welcomed by Mr. Eric Otto Stuhr Enstrøm, Managing Director of the Band of the Royal Danish Life Guards, along with Mr. Jesper Hyllested and Mr. Søren Rønløv, the drum major and the conductor of the Band of the Royal Danish Life Guards, at the Life Guards’ barracks situated within the Rosenborg Palace. The Ambassador expressed her gratitude to the Band of the Royal Danish Life Guards for performing the “Marsch Siamese” every year on 5 December to commemorate Thai National Day and His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great’s Birthday Anniversary, which is a symbol of the special and long-standing relationship between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Kingdom of Denmark which has lasted for more than 400 years since the first contact and is celebrating the 167th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year, as well as demonstrating the close bond between the royal families and people of both countries.
The “Marsch Siamese” was composed in 1890 by Mr. Hans Niel Hass, the Band Master of the Royal Danish Life Guards at the time, in honour of General Chaophraya Wongsanuprapat (Mom Rajawongse Satarn Snidvongs), Grandfather of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, who underwent military training and served in the Royal Danish Army during 1883-1892.
